Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience
I specialise in neurodevelopmental conditions (mainly ASD and ADHD) across the life-span, and have a strong interest in understanding and promoting acceptance of neurodiversity. I work with adults as well as with children and young people and their families. Apart from diagnostic work, I’m especially interested in offering psychological therapy to suit neurodiverse clients.
In my therapeutic work I draw on a range of cognitive behavioural approaches, depending on your needs. I combine mindfulness and contextual approaches (mainly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). This means that therapy will always initially focus on what a meaningful life means for you, even if current difficulties have meant you might have lost sight and you might need time to explore this. Therapy will allow you to explore your strengths as well as patterns of how you relate to bodily sensations, thoughts and feelings. I am an EMDR practitioner, and have experience using this trauma therapy with clients that have a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD.
In My Own Words
Here at the Retreat I most like that we can offer support and therapies that are centred around each individual we meet. This is because we have a great team of people with complementing professional backgrounds: clinicians, administrators and experts by experience, that are open minded and diverse – and who appreciate that we all have different strengths as human beings.
I particularly like the green outdoor space at the Retreat, which allows us to see clients outdoors (for walking and talking sessions, when meeting indoors can feel overwhelming for some – or when we want to practice mindful awareness outdoors).
